THC and CBD: One of these things is not like the other!

Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds that make the cannabis plant such a medicinal powerhouse. There are more than 100 different cannabinoids in cannabis, each with unique therapeutic properties. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol)  are two of the most well-known. Both THC and CBD can help with a variety of medical conditions, but there’s one big difference: one gets you high and one doesn’t.

THC is responsible for the “buzz” folks get from smoking, vaping, and ingesting cannabis. CBD is its non-psychoactive cousin. CBD won’t get you high. Nor will medicinal products that isolate CBD—supplements, oils, tinctures, patches.

CBD has anti-inflammatory, anti-anemic, anticonvulsive, antipsychotic, antidepressant, and antioxidant properties. The list of conditions it can help with keeps growing and includes epilepsy, diabetic neuropathy, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

Educating one story at a time

Countless people who suffer never try CBD because they think all cannabis products will make them high. Wellness Connection member, Jessica Coakley, has been brave enough to share her story, in the hopes of educating those who might be afraid to try CBD for that reason. She was afraid, too. Now she’s grateful that she didn’t allow society’s judgment to stand in the way of wellness. When enough people start sharing stories about their success with medical cannabis, and CBD in particular, many more will benefit.
